Some of our employees have more than one job and use the tax exemption Claim code 1 at their other job. How do I get Sage payroll to let me emter a Claim code 0
Hello SharonD and thank you for posting your question in the Sage Cloud Payroll community.
This is a great question. Sage Cloud Payroll automatically applies the claim code based on how to TD1 amounts are entered in the employee record, under their Tax details section. Claim Code 0 means "No basic personal amount"
Sage Cloud Payroll doesn’t allow us to manually select Claim Code 0. To apply it, we enter $0 on both the federal and provincial TD1 amounts. When both amounts are set to zero, Sage calculates income tax as Claim Code 0, meaning no basic personal exemption is applied and tax is withheld accordingly.
