Accountant's Copy and Accountant's Entries re Version of Sage

SOLVED

In our office we are using Sage 50 Accountant Edition in it's latest version.

Our client is using Sage 50 2019.4... we have their accountant's copy of Sage that I am about to restore and post adjusting journal entries to. When I export the accountant's entries to eventually import into their version of Sage, will the version of Sage be an issue?

Thanks,

Kristine

    Yes this should work.

I created an accountant's copy in 2019.4 and then opened it and posted an entry with the AE.

I then upgraded it to 2025.1 and posted a second entry in 2025.

I then exported the AE entries and both the entry created in 2019.4 and the one from 2025.1 were exported.

I went back to the original file in 2019's version and the entries imported without any problems and cancelled the Accountant's copy on that file as expected.

The heading designations on the export file remained the same between the two versions, so it imported without a problem.   You may want to have them test it on a copy of the file with one entry before you commit if you don't have 2019 installed in your office.

Thanks, Richard, for testing that out! I didn't expect that extra work on your behalf, so thank you very much for spending your precious time.

I suspected as much that it should be okay, afterall, I'm only posting JEs, But versions can be an issue, as I'm sure you are well aware. Nevertheless, I'll heed your advice to test a couple of JEs before posting all 8 pages worth that I have toget through.

Many thanks again for your assistance.

    Best,

You are welcome.  I was curious as I have never come across this need before.  I know each export file has a specific GUID identifier but I was not sure if it was version specific or file specific.  It turns out it is file specific.  Again the programmers are thinking further ahead and including features that help us at the bookkeeper and accountant side.
