reconciling credit card

SOLVED

Do most people reconcile their credit card statement in Sage 50 as well as the bank statement and are there any tips regarding the credit card reconciliation that I should be aware of?  Very new to the program.  Thanks for your help.

    I do.

One thing that I've found to make things easier is to keep a spreadsheet with a running tally column from the bank statement,  both so that I can reconcile from the online balance, and  because the statements just show a total after 4 pages so it's hard to locate an error that way.

When recording a reconciliation in Sage 50, I just leave the ending balance at zero, and update a comment in like "fr. online banking to April 5PM", and save the reconciliation at the end of each day.    The 'unresolved' balance should always be the opposite of the bank balance.

There should be  a cover over the 'post' button on the reconciliation screen, like there is over the 'launch Missile' button in the movies.   By following the above procedure, you can keep the reconciliation up-to-date, but out of balance so that you don't post it without meaning to.  There's a second chance to stop, after the warning that it's going to need an 'adjustment'.

When the Credit Cards are set up, you can set up a future online payment and post it before having all the receipts in.

I hope that helps, please post back, and also please mark any answers that you find helpful, as this will also help others who search this forum for answers.
