sage 50

Question

I recently purchased sage 50 Cdn and received the download version. I installed it and it worked perfectly. I let a relative play around on my new laptop. A few days later I had work to do using the sage 50 . When I clicked to open the program , the SAGE green logo came up and instead of the program itself coming up on the screen a file folder appears and nothing happens from there on. 
 
 I cannot get it to work at all , can someone please help me

Right now the program is just expecting you to open a file as it says at the top left title bar of the dialog you see. At the bottom right you can see it is just showing Sage 50 files. If you don't see one, then there isn't one in the directory you are looking at. So navigate to the correct directory and open your file. However, because you just bought the program, you may not have created a file yet. 
 To fix your "problem", you just need to open a Sage 50 data file and turn that dialog option back on. When you see the "Sage 50 - Open Company" dialog, navigate to the following folder. 
 C:\Users\Public\Documents\Simply Accounting\2021\Samdata (I usually paste this into the Address bar at the top of the dialog and hit Enter). 
 Then select the version of the program you bought and open the Universl.sai company file. 
 Then select View, Select Company Window at Startup. Close the program and open it again and you will see that sample file as the Last used file. Now you can select the sample company at the top, Select an existing company (gets you back to that same dialog you saw before), create a new company data file, etc.
