Error Message "There is an error when connecting to the server. Please check your internet connection and try again

Why am I getting this message.

  • I just posted this as well, I am having the same issue with one of my Sage files.  I have tried recovering from a back up but get the same error.

    Dear Sage Customers,

    This communication is regarding the access issues some of you have experienced with the 2025.1 release of Sage 50. This update included a data security change, which unfortunately resulted in access challenges for some users.

    We are pleased to inform you that a workaround is now available, allowing you to access Sage 50 without needing to contact support if you encounter one of the following cases:

    • If you do not have access to the data owner’s credentials.
    • If you encounter the error message “There is an error when connecting to the server…”
    • If users are repeatedly seeing the error message “To complete this action, you need to use [email address]…”

    Note that after using this workaround, you may still see one of the above error messages or prompts to log in but you will be able to bypass them by exiting out of the message.
