So I have been having this issue with Sage - my payroll test file has been rejected by my bank 2 now here is what they say the problem is
"I just heard back from CUPS. The test file rejected for the reason -
For Payor/ Payee Angela Kline, the Originator Short name can not be empty. The file was Rejected and written to the error file!"
Based on this, I'm guessing that the Originator Short Name has not been entered into your company's profile in the payroll software. I just checked CAFT and this is how the short and long names are set up.
Then it goes on to show how the short and long names are set up ... The Bank, CUPS and even Sage told me that SAGE has to make this change .... as this is some thing that is done on their end ... but I dread talking to customer service - cause all they do is apologize and leave me on hold .. has this happened to any one else and how did you fix it ..
