Reconcilliation

Suggested

I started in the office and trying to do the Recon. The year is 2024 that it is pending from and it is 2026. Even if i start with 2025 which is current fiscal Year. It still shows discrepancy & unresolved. Everything is ticked off and posted. Can i just reset it to zero and start from current fiscal year?

    Hi  ,

You may not want to reset it to zero as a first step. Resetting the bank reconciliation removes the reconciliation history, so Sage recommends backing up first and then working through the discrepancy or unresolved amount checks before doing a full reset.

A few things to check first:

    1. Confirm the statement opening balance, ending balance, start date, and end date are correct.
    2. Make sure all transactions from the bank statement are entered in Sage 50 and dated correctly.
    3. Check whether the Outstanding amount matches the total of the unchecked items in the reconciliation window.
    4. Compare the opening and ending book balances against the General Ledger or Transactions by Account report for the same dates.
    5. If the opening book balance does not match the Trial Balance or Balance Sheet, run Database Utilities and then check the reconciliation again.

If the amounts still do not line up after those checks, then resetting the bank reconciliation may be the right next step. Before doing that, make sure you save a backup and print or export the outstanding transactions report, since previously completed reconciliations will be cleared. After the reset, you can set the bank reconciliation up again.
