Set up new US Visa Card for use

SOLVED
Posted By FormerMember

Our business has a new US Visa Card to pay for expenses in USD.

I want to set up a new visa card but Sage 50 does not allow me to choose the currency for the credit card?

Anyone knows how to do this? I'm using Sage 50 Premium Accounting.

Many thanks!

Circling back to this as I am also trying to set up a US Currency Credit card for to pay bills, but I notice when I set it up as a USD bank account, I am not able to link it under setting/credit card USED. It doesn't show as an option to choose.

So it is currently set up in CAD dollars, but when I go to pay a US invoice, it wants to convert to CAD dollars which I understand being its a CAD credit card.

Is there a way to make that work? I've talked with sage support, and it doesn't seem like they can give me a straight answer.

    Thank you.

    Hi  ,

Based on the Sage Knowledgebase information, this happens because credit cards in Sage 50 Canadian Edition will default to the home currency, which is CAD in your case. Here are the steps and clarifications to help resolve this:

    1. Current Limitation: At this moment, if your default currency is set to Canadian dollars, you won't be able to have a credit card directly set up in USD. This limitation is based on the system's default settings.

    2. Processing US Dollar Payments: You can still process payments in USD in Sage 50 Canada, but the vendor must be set up as a US vendor in order to pay them in USD. The credit card may still show as CAD, but Sage 50 will handle the currency exchange for the transaction.

    3. Steps to Set Up Foreign Vendors and Modify Currency: You can follow these articles to ensure your vendors and currencies are set up properly:

While there is no direct way to change the credit card currency itself within the Canadian edition unless the default currency is set to USD, you should still be able to handle your US payments using the methods above.

I hope this clarifies the issue. If you need more assistance, feel free to ask!

If this helps, please mark it as verified :)
