Changing year end for a sage file

SUGGESTED

Hi there,

just wondering if its possible to change the year end on a current sage file. I created a sage file with a December 2023 YE. I recorded transactions up to May 31, 2024 but found out that the year end needs to be April. So if there a way to change it or do i need to create a brand year sage file. If a new file has to be created, is there a way to transfer all the data from the old sage into the new one so i don't have to record the May transactions again.

    Hi  ,

Thanks for reaching out. You can change the fiscal year-end date for your existing Sage file without creating a new one. Here's how you can adjust the fiscal year-end date:

    1. Access the Settings: In Sage, go to the “Company” module and select “Settings.”
    2. Change Fiscal Year-End: Find the option to change the fiscal year-end date and update it to the new date (April 30, in your case). Confirm the changes. You can find more details on how to do this in this article.
    3. Review Transactions: After updating the year-end date, review your transactions to ensure everything aligns correctly with the new fiscal period. Additional guidance is available here.

If you've already recorded transactions in the new fiscal period and need to transfer data, you can use Sage’s import/export features to handle this efficiently, minimizing the need for manual re-entry. For detailed steps on data transfer, please refer to this article.

If this helps, please mark it as verified :)

    Warm Regards,
