Accepting Deposits

I am accepting deposits for an event that we are holding.  I am bringing in these deposits as a "deposit" on the receipts on each of the individuals accounts.  When it comes to billing the individuals later on for the entire cost of the event, is there a way to show the deposit that they had previously sent in on the invoice and then have the invoice show the amount remaining that yet needs to be paid by the individuals?  The only method that I can seem to find is to receive the deposit as a deposit on their account, make up the invoice later on for the entire cost of the event, and then send out a statement to each individual that will show the initial deposit received, the invoice showing the total cost of the event and then the actual balance owing now showing up on the statement.  This method, however, means that I am sending each individual an invoice showing the total cost of the event and a statement showing the balance owing.  Is there an easier way?

Hello  , and thank you for posting your question in the Sage Community.

Great question, and you’re not missing anything obvious. The workflow you described (record deposit as customer receipt + billing later and generate statement) is the standard and intended method in Sage Accounting.

However, instead of sending the statement to your customer individually, you can set up Sage Accounting to automatically send monthly statement to your customers, and also choose not to include transactions that have a zero balance.

Check out the following support article on how to generate customer statements in Sage Accounting and setup the automation.
