You're quite right that transactions need to be paid, allocated and reconciled where appropriate before Clear Audit Trail can remove them, but there are some other reasons why they may not be removed, for example if they're linked to a transaction that does not meet all of the criteria or flagged as Gift Aid or maybe CIS transactions that haven't been reconciled.

Hi,

They are not linked to CIS or Gift Aid. 

I do have monthly Recurring Entries, some of which have recurring for 185 times (15 years) but the Audit Trail has always cleared in the past regardless, so I reuse the same entry, although sometimes it is modified slightly.

I am on V. 30.0.171.0 and in January 2024 installed Sage 50 on a new laptop with no problems. I have not deleted the version on my old laptop yet.
