How to Restore Accounts to view reports of a prior year Profit & Loss /Balance sheet etc. How do I know what version of Sage Accounts created the backup?

SUGGESTED

Year end has been run and I need the P/L report for the prior year. Sage Accounts will not run the prior year reports, so in order to view these reports do I need to download the version of Sage Accounts that created the last backup prior to running year end? if so is there a way to check which version created the backup? I tried opening the backup with notepad but gave up after 5 minutes of waiting!

Archived tool didn't work, I found it crashed the program. I suspect this is because I do not use the Sage Accounts default backup location because we backup to OneDrive.  Finally got a back up to work though. To do this I opened and checked a Data Only back up with Notepad and the version number is visible. In my case it was 30.0.171.0  I was then able to download a copy of the correct  version and restore the backup.  I have created a new folder for the Sage Accounts download and installed, then  point restore to the backup. Ignore any prompts to update when first running Sage Accounts.

    Hi

To stop your archive crashing, delete archive.dta from your archive folder.

Click Help >> About >> Data Directory >> Archive and then open your archive again

Also if you update to v30.1, you can now restore a backup into practice data, saving time without the need to create new locations etc >>

    Restore into practice data
