Thanks Carol. On the PCs where you're seeing the above message (rather than the server ones), is the data service running? Sometimes even if you're connecting to a dataset on the server, Sage needs the local data service to be running, so just want to make sure that's the case as well. Thanks

And an additional question please. Do you continue to see the above message after using the repair option that you mentioned?

sometimes using the repair option works.  one of the PC's today, even after running the repair is still having issues  - managed to get into sage and then it closes with message your connection to the sage data service has been lost 

Thanks for the info. Are you able to get back into Sage after that connection message? It's worthwhile checking that the local data service is also running in addition to the sever one. Are all datasets you're connecting to on the server machine, or are some of them local ones?

If both server and local data services are running correctly, the next bit I'd recommend to check is your client PC clock and make sure it's set correctly (i.e., it's doesn't show time in the past/future).

Another possible cause of the issue you're seeing can be related to permissions of some files the data service relies on. The following article explains how to resolve such issue. However, this is only applicable to PCs where you notice the data service isn't running. Hope this helps.

now i know to check the local data service, next time it happens I'll take a look at this.  Any reason why this should happen, it was all fine until yesterday before upgrading to V28.  Permissions shouldn't have altered, PC clock should be ok, it was prior to the upgrade.  All datasets are on the server so it is pointing to a local problem but I don't see why.

Hi Carol.

We made improvements in V28 that required the data service to rely on some of the folders mentioned in that article. If the default permissions of these folders change then this can potentially affect the data service. It's unlikely to be the cause of your problem as permissions would need to be explicitly changed to affect the data service, but I thought it was worth pointing out as something else to double check.

Good morning Ali

Sage was running fine yesterday afternoon, i closed Sage before i left and didn't shut down my laptop, it was locked and in sleep mode.  I have come in this morning, data service is running locally and on the server, but cannot access Sage - when i first try to access i get a message 'diagnosing connection issues and then it goes to the message about not possible to contact accounts service V28.  i am going to do a restart first to see if that solves it

a restart of my  laptop sorted it this morning.  My colleagues PC was shut down last night, she couldn't access Sage at first but again a restart sorted it.  But other colleagues accessed Sage fine
