Slow loading time

We updated Sage 50 to version 32 a couple of weeks ago (prior to that we had used version 27). The app seems to take a lot longer to load since the update (it's stuck on the loading screen for over 30 seconds). Is this normal with the new version or is there a problem at our end? Has anybody else experienced this? Have you got any tips on how to make it load faster?

    Hi Mariana,

    Just wanted to check a few things to try and help to narrow this down. 

    Is Sage 50 Accounts installed on one computer or is the data accessed from multiple computers on a local network?

    If you have more than one user or more than one PC with an installation are the speed issues different at all between the users / installations?

    Does anyone remote in to work on the software?

    Do you use Remote Data Access?

    If you open Help > About , under Data information, how many splits are listed and under Invoices and orders, how many invoices?

    Thank you for your reply. 

    We have multiple users, each with Sage 50 installed locally on their PCs, but the data is accessed from an external server.
    All users are experiencing the same slowness.
    Users access Sage via Remote Desktop when working from home, but the slowness occurs regardless of whether they are at home or in the office. It also occurs when nobody is working from home. 

    Sage over VPN has always been so slow that we have stopped using that way and are now only accessing it via the Remote Desktop. 
     
    We don't use Remote Data Access. 
    We have two separate company datasets, each with its own login. Users switch between these logins depending on which company’s data they need to access.
    Dataset 1
    Splits: 91558
    Invoices: 4542
    Dataset 2
    Splits: 175293
    Invoices: 0

    I recommend using this troubleshooting article to try and narrow down the cause. It's not a known issue, and your data volumes are all within recommended limits but there are other areas to consider as highlighted in the article: Troubleshoot performance issues in Sage 50 Accounts

    Hi Mariana,

    Same experience here. 

    Sage 50 Accounts has been like this for at least the last 5 versions. I'm the IT manager at our company and have been responsible for the Sage 50 Accounts software for the past 30 years. Whilst it's always been a fairly slow program to load up I've certainly noticed it get slower over these past few versions.

    I think it has possibly got something to do with the number of companies you have in the company file, as well as if you have any that you access via Sage Remote Desktop Access.

    Thank you, Chris. This makes sense and confirms what I’ve been suspecting all along. We were on version 29 before the upgrade — quite a few versions behind the current one — so the slowness came as a bit of a shock, but we're slowly getting used to it (excuse the pun).

    We have two companies, and we don’t use Sage Remote Desktop Access. I do wonder whether the AI integration is contributing to the slowness as well.
