What VAT T code do I use for Purchases from Non EU Countries

Question

Hi. 
 We recently started purchasing goods from outside of the EU. The invoices that we receive do not include VAT, and we do not pay any VAT on import either, but I understand that we must still report the purchase in Box 7 of the VAT return. For info. we are purchasing electrical items). Is this correct and if so what T code should I be using to ensure that it appears in Box 7?
