Missing Vat return

Question

I need to access my Vat return for 2021 - we are on annual accounting scheme so only one vat return per year. I get an error when I click on the return. I have checked the vatrtns folder and there is no entry there for this return. I have restored various backups but none of them will restore the required file for this return. 
 Is there another way to restore the vat return?

It would be good to confirm the error message you receive when clicking the VAT Return. If it advises "Failed to load VAT Return XML" then the following article may be useful: VAT - Error: "Failed to load VAT Return XML, or "Unable to Load VAT Verify Results" >

If problems persists, another option would be t run the return again, electing to include reconciled transactions.
