Trial balance does not agree to nominal accounts

SOLVED

Hi

Sage 50 v29.2

Trial balance does not agree to the nominal ledger. Year end TB dated July 23 not including transactions dated 25/3/23.  When click on TB balance the nominal balance is correct but doesn't agree to TB. I have deleted and reentered (Credit card using code 1240) but still the same.  No errors or warnings when data checked and TB balances, files re indexed no change - when run a future TB the balances are correct.  When going into the nominal on the details tab the transaction is showing in the future box but when you go into the activity and run for the month it includes in the correct month.

I've never seen this issue before - concerning as only came to light when ticking off the TB to the nominal reports. The TB generated has 10 nominals not agreeing to the TB but Sage is saying no errors.

    Hi Dawn,

    Thanks for using Community Hub.

If you run the Transactional Trial Balance for the same date range as the nominal is it correct? You can access this in Nominal > Reports > Trial Balance > Transactional Trial Balance.

I'd also suggest recalculating the period values. To do this, first take a backup, then open File > Maintenance > Recovery tools > Recalculate Period values.

If the issue persists I would then suggest contacting Technical Support so they can look at it further for you: Sage Technical Support >

    Hi,

    Thank you for your response.

The transactional TB for the date range is correct.

I have actually year ended the client so am unable to run the recalculate period values now - the correct balances have come forward to the new year. If it happens again I will recalculate.

    Thanks

If you've done the year end, if you can use the transaction number limit to stop the transactional TB report to just before the cleardown journal (there should be no further transactions for any previous year after the cleardown journal).

If you want to find out exactly what is going into each nominal of the TB you will need to edit the transactional TB report :

    1. Edit the report
    2. Using the "Report Explorer" select and change the "Properties" of the Details section: Behaviour>visible to True
    3. Add extra variables for AUDIT_JOURNAL_Date, AUDIT_JOURNAL.INV_REF, AUDIT_JOURNAL.DETAILS (you may also like to add AUDIT_JOURNAL.HEADER_NUMBER to be able to quickly locate the transaction) tot he Details section
    4. Save in My Nominal Reports (eg "TRANTB Details")

When you Export Data to Excel you will now get a list of the transactions that are being used to create the TB.
