VAT Returns not showing

Suggested

A problem which a machine recently arose and the ACCDATA folder was copied from a storage device to the new machine. All worked fine and all transactions were present.

However, when the VAT module was gone into, there were no returns present and it required an all files restore to be done to recreate the VAT returns.

My understanding was it was just necessary to have a copy of the ACCDATA folder but clearly this is not the case.

My question, therefore, should the Company folder be backed up in its entirety?

My question, therefore, should the Company folder be backed up in its entirety?

Yes. The ACCDATA folder is only part of the overall company data. As you have already found VAT returns are an example of something that is stored outside of this folder, and there are numerous other examples. When moving data we would recommend using the backup facility within the software to create a full backup, and then restore this to the new location. However if you do wish to copy folders directly it is always best to company the entire company folder to ensure you do not miss/loose anything.

    Hope that helps
