Connection Issues v32 for switching companies

Solved

We have 3 users on Sage50 v32 and have continual issues on connection start-up

One of the recommendations is to not switch companies through File/Open Company Data. (We only have 2 active companies, practice data and demo)

We should close down Sage, re-open with the different company.

Is anyone else having similar issues and been given this advice?

Thx

    Hi Ali,

Just to dig a bit further into this, what actually happens when you start up or change companies? Does the system freeze, are there any error messages? Any steps / what happens will help us to look at this further.

You mentioned 3 users, are they all local to the data or do any remote in? If they connect remotely how is that configured? Is the data in a shared folder on a server?

Sorry to come back with a lot of questions, just trying to get to the detail.

    Thanks,

    Andy,

    Hi Andy,

    Thanks for the follow up

We've been getting connection error messages, however this is normally on start up

Our IT outsource provider stated that a Sage recommendation to eliminate this is in switching companies in v32 is to completely close down Sage and then re-open it. This could be causing our connection errors?

All 3 users are local as we don't do Remote for Sage and data is on a dedicated server.

    Any advice welcome

    Thx

Thanks for coming back Ali, do you have the wording of any of the errors?

    Hi Andy,

Either we get Invalid Direct or Connection Issues, which happened 2 days apart

     - **** INVALIID DIRECT...

     - Data Service Unavailable (Box)

It is not possible to contact Sage 50 Accounts Service v32 etc

    Hi Ali,

These connection errors suggest that there are periods when sage is not able to connect to the data service on the server. Closing Sage down and reopening it is the safest way to use Sage especially with multiple users working on a network - however I see how that might cause you to encounter the start-up problem more frequently.

To tackle the root of the problem, I would suggest using this guide: Troubleshoot data service issues

It contains the most common solutions to these issues and it will help you identify the cause of these connection problems.
