Sage v29 remoting in - best strategy

SUGGESTED

Hi there

Wonder if someone could assist please.
We use Sage Accounts v29.  In the office we have around 8 users connecting to a "Sage PC" on the network.  The Sage PC stores the company data.
Whenever somebody wants to work from home, standard practice is for the person to remote into their desktop at work.  From there, they can access the Sage program and work on that.  I realise that this may sound a bit archaic, but we tried Sage Drive a couple of years back, and to be honest, found it a bit buggy, and we were always having to reset it.  Hence we went back to the way of remoting into the work PC and doing it that way, which has always worked well.

Our Finance Director wants to change his work PC to a laptop.  He will very occasionally accessing Sage remotely, although mostly using it when on the company network.  The difference this time is that his existing desktop is being re-deployed, so he won't have the option to remote into a work desktop.  With this in mind, and bearing in mind that the split is going to be 10% remote, 90% on-site, what would be the best way to set up Sage on the laptop - just to set him up as a remote Sage user and login this way all of the time, or set up two options for him on the Sage start-up screen - Sage (Network) and Sage (Remote)?

Many thanks

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for using Community Hub.

I normally recommend Remote Data Access for this, formerly Sage Drive, the feature has been developed and improved, you can read more about it in the Help Centre >

I'll leave your post open though in case anyone else in the Community has experiences to share.

Andy we are contacting SAGE support today as this is how our director accesses SAGE from home .However it seems that all office PC`s then automatically revert to remote data access too which slows up the speed of processing in the office considerably . They are all hard wired to the server where SAGE is stored but remote data access takes precedence . This is far from ideal so if we obtain a solution will post.
