How to fix errors in data for remote user

While accessing a company remotely, I had a crash which seems to have caused data corruption. I'd been successfully logged in remotely for a couple of hours when Sage hung while trying to create a report. I had to force close the software after 30 mins of inactivity.

When trying to open the company now I get a message "Errors have been detected in your data which indicate data corruption. You must stop processing until these errors have been fixed............To view errors and find out what to do next, click Check data and view errors'.

The above dialog box has a button "Check data and view errors". When I click on this I get the message "You do not have access to be able to run check data. Please log in as a Manager or a user with full access."

Unfortunately, neither myself nor the person who runs the sage server that I'm trying to access knows how to resolve this situation. He runs the check data procedure daily on his end and it shows no errors. Neither of us are Sage experts. This all happened a couple of weeks ago and we have been unable to even properly understand the problem.

Where is this corrupt data? Is it on my end (remotely)? How can I fix it if I don't have permissions? Do I need to be granted permission to run the fix data procedure? Does the person with manager permissions need to come to my remote computer to log in and fix it? Is my corrupt data on his end and if so what does he need to do to fix it?

If the corrupt data is on my end is there a way for me to simply delete the corrupt data so it can be resynced with the main site data?

Needless to say, I'm confused as to where the corrupt data is and what we should be doing to resolve the situation.

I'm tech savvy but we are both inexperienced with Sage so we aren't even sure where the problem is that needs to be fixed, never mind how to fix it.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can try and use the ‘forgot password’ option to reset the manager password >> Reset Manager Password

If this doesn’t work, you’ll need the owner of the business to contact Sage on Monday, who will decode the password for you.

Once you can log in, you can then see what’s wrong. Manager can also amend  and check your level of access.

Errors have been detected in your data which indicate data corruption.

Thanks for trying to help but this didn't answer any of my questions, nor help me to understand the problem. Nobody has forgotten the managers password. There was no mention of anyone forgetting the managers password.

I am not the manager of the company. I am on the remote system, I double click to start Sage 50 Accounts with the intent of accessing the company's system via a remote computer. The first window I see is to select a company. So I select the company, and immediately I'm presented with the dialog box telling me that the data for that company is corrupt. I have two options 'Check Data' which fails because apparently I'm not logged in as a manager, or to 'Ignore Errors and Continue' where it warns that further corruption may occur.

At this point I am not yet even looking at the sage software. This is all in a dialog box prior to the sage software even opening. There is no option to log in as a manager even if I wanted to.

What is the procedure to fix the problem?

Are you suggesting that the manager needs to travel to the remote machine and log in on the remote machine in order to fix this issue? Would he need to press the button 'Ignore Errors and Continue' and then log in as a manager to fix the issue? That seems crazy. What if the remote machine is in another country. How is that the solution?

The manager of the main Sage server is able to log in on the main Sage server and when he checks the data it's fine. No problems found.

So I assume the corrupt data is on my machine? I did ask if that was the case in my original post, in order to better understand the problem, but I think you misread my post because your suggested solution seemed to be for a completely different problem.

Surely I should be able to simple delete the data on the remote machine and restart the whole process so that the non-corrupt data is downloaded from the main company sage system again. Is there a way to do that?

If the corrupt data is on my machine, I'm more than happy to wipe it. I will not lose any work. I simply need to access the main sage system remotely again.

I'd be more than happy to nuke the entire sage install and wipe all data and restart the whole process of connecting to the company sage server again if that is the solution here. I'm baffled as to why a manager is needed to fix issues on the remote machine. There must be a way for me to do it without the manager having to travel here.

Thanks again for your help and apologies if I sound frustrated. I wouldn't want it to sound like the frustration is directed at you personally.

I'm simply baffled why the data seems to be duplicated on the remote machine and that there isn't simply an option to redownload the data and resync it with the non-corrupt data on the company server. That would seem like the obvious no-brainer solution rather than trying to repair data on a remote machine that is no longer synced with the company anyway. Why would we need to repair it? This is all so confusing for no good reason.

So, in short, if the corrupt data is on my remote machine, how might I delete that corrupt data so it can be redownloaded from scratch from the main company server the same way it was when I first connected to the company?

Due to your level of access, in order to re-sync the data from the other site, restore a non corrupt backup or disconnect and re-download the data you’ll need access to the manager password in order for you to login as that user and perform those actions to resolve the problem.
