bank transfer on different days

Suggested

Hi,

i have made a bank transfer form account A to  account B on saturday 28th feb.

the funds were received in account B on sat 28th Feb and are showing on the statement for 28th Feb

however because this was a saturday the money going out of account A is showing on our statement as 2nd march

How do i record this on sage - if i do a bank transfer i can only put in one date and if i do a bank payment/ receipt what nominal code would i use?

Thanks in advance

I would note it on the day you did it for both bank accounts (as per the transfer).  When you reconcile you know it happened earlier and can match it off.  The receiving bank will have no mistimed entries, but the sending bank will.

NatWest did that to me.  I transferred money from NatWest to Santander on a Saturday.  During the w/e it was not in NatWest but was in Santander on the Saturday, and still that way on Sunday.  Then on Monday it was in NatWest on the Saturday as well as being in Santander and was shown to leave NatWest on the Monday!  (Based on the Statement transaction dates.)  NatWest seems to be a Shroedinger's Bank: both having money and not having money at the same time.

I would do it dated 28th February. That way you can reconcile both accounts at the statement date, it really isnt worth doing payments and receceipts to a suspense account just to get the dates "right"
