Hello to all our members old and new!

I’m Andy, the UK & Ireland lead for Community Hub, and I’m excited to introduce myself and help you get settled in. I’m here to keep the forums running smoothly, assist with any questions you might have, and encourage everyone to jump in with ideas, replies, and best practice. The goal is to make this a place where we all learn from each other and find solutions together.

If you’re new to Community Hub, feel free to set up a profile, and post your questions. Why not make your first post a reply here to introduce yourself?

A little bit about me: Before joining Sage, I worked with three government agencies, including HMRC’s VAT Enquiry line. I’ve been with Sage for 25 years now, starting out on the support line for Sage Line 50 (now Sage 50 Accounts). Over the years, I moved into the Digital Knowledge Team where I helped develop helpful materials for our products, and eventually, into my current role here in Community Hub. I’m really passionate about what I do, and it’s so rewarding to see the community come together to help each other out!

When I’m not immersed in Community Hub, you’ll probably find me out birdwatching. I’m actively involved in long-term studies of Mute Swans and Kittiwakes. I also enjoy reading, socialising, and, as a lifelong Newcastle United fan, I’m still holding out hope for that elusive domestic trophy (70 years and counting!). --- Edit: Not any more!

Now, enough about me—I’d love to hear from you! What brought you to Community Hub? What would you like to see here? Feel free to share your own introduction, and let’s get to know each other!

Hello, I'm Catherine and I currently work as a Data & Payroll Specialist for a wholesale food supplier in the North West. I've been in this role for just over 18 months and run a small weekly payroll for about 135 staff.  And yes, everyone in the company is paid weekly which after over 30 years of being paid monthly was a bit of a change for me when I joined. Secretly I think I might prefer being paid weekly to monthly now!

I have a long and varied career history across utility, medical and retail industries from customer service and complaints management through system development, user acceptance testing and system implementation through to operations and HR management and finally (possibly?!) payroll which I elected to switch to in the middle of the 2020 pandemic!  As well as Sage 50 Payroll, I have worked with ADP, Zellis and Cascade payroll systems.

Like many I only found Community Hub when I had a query about how to do something in Sage 50 Payroll and found the answer in a question previously posted. I had a root around the different forums and then figured I may as well sign up. I find it interesting reading the queries other payrollers have about using Sage or just managing payroll in general. Even the questions about issues/situations I have never come across are good to hear about, just to keep learning more.

I find using the Community Hub pages alongside the Help Centre pages a great resource for when I'm not entirely sure about the best way to go about something.

Sage also have a regular programme of payroll webinars which if you haven't taken part in I would recommend you do so. Even in areas that you think you know it all already, they can highlight something that you had either never considered or straight up forgotten. Being live webinars, you also get the chance to raise questions with the team as well. But if the timing of the live webinars doesn't suit your schedule, you can watch recordings of most of the prior webinars at a time that suits you.

I would add another question to those that Andy asked above - "Did you choose payroll or did it choose you?"

    Hi everyone!

As Andy shared a bit about himself, I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself too!

I’m Annie, and I’ve been with Sage for nearly 10 years now (time really does fly!). I started my journey here in support, focusing on Sage 50 Payroll as a technician. From there, I moved into leadership roles and worked with our cloud products, including Sage Business Cloud Accounting and Payroll. After a few years, I transitioned into the digital space (where I earned the fun nickname Digi Diva) and spent 4 years leading the Digital Knowledge team for the UKI region.

Today, I’m the Global Community and Standards Manager – and I absolutely love it! The digital world is always evolving, which keeps me on my toes and learning something new every day.

Outside of work, you’ll often find me walking Myles, my mischievous pug (who Andy can vouch for as quite the character!). I’m also an avid swimmer, I’m in the pool 3-4 times a week – usually at 6 a.m., though I’ve yet to summon the courage for a sea swim!

Our Community Hub is a fantastic place to connect, share insights, and learn how others are making the most of our software. I’m always happy to chat about digital tips or anything else you’re curious about, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

Now, I’d love to hear from you – feel free to introduce yourself and share a little about your journey with Sage!

    Hello everyone!

Following on from Andy and Annie, I thought I'd take a minute to introduce myself. I've been with Sage for two years now, starting out in 50 Payroll as a Tech Support Specialist. Since July, I've been part of the Knowledge and Community - Standards and Audit team as a Knowledge Content Specialist, and I absolutely love it here. I've definitely found where I want to be!

Outside of work, I enjoy doing yoga and, unlike Annie, I dive into the North Sea for a swim – the thrill is unbeatable!

That is, if I have any spare time, as my partner and I are currently renovating a new house. It's a challenge we've taken on, and it's definitely not for the faint-hearted, ha!

I'm super excited to hear from all of you and learn about your interests. I encourage you to post your own bio too – let's get to know each other better! We'd love to hear from you and find out what you'd like to see from the Community.

    Hi All,

In the early 1990s I was the in-house programmer/user support/system operator (effectively the computer department) for a mail order retail company (using a Pick based system for stock control and the accounts) before being made redundant whereupon I became a coach driver (wanted to "get out and see the world" - being paid to do it was a bonus...).  I became treasurer for my church in around 2016, using HMRC's BPT to do the payroll.

At the end of 2018 I left coach driving and joined my current employer as a volunteer to get some [proper] experience of accounting and using Sage to start a proper career change; this became an employed position and I now work in the finance office of a HE college.  Due to having to do extra at work and a lack of spare time, I have had to resign from being church treasurer.  Running the physical payroll using Sage for my employer was passed onto me during the Covid lockdown - the finance department had gone through a change of staff and I was probably the most experienced with payroll having done it for my church.

I came to the Community Hub looking for answers to a problem I had, found I could supply answers to others with their queries and stayed to help where I could.

    Hi Vishal,

Can you let us know where you are trying to log in, and what you're hoping to do? Are you using Sage software or are you looking to access your own information, maybe a payslip?
