What do I do with incoming Stripe payments on Transactions in order to reconcile?

Suggested

The company have used Sage since 2019 but only using the product to invoice customers, reconciling elsewhere. The bank account created in the product was not linked to the current account of the business. To add this was prior to my involvement with the company so not something I have set up.

We took the decision to start using the product to connect with the bank accounts to the business since the beginning of December 2025.

I have since the been matching payments to invoices and ledgers accordingly in the transactions tab to the current account but having a problem with matching the incoming Stripe payments. I am aware that when a customer uses Stripe it automatically reconciles the payment to the invoice but - what do I need to do with the incoming payments from Stripe (the amount with fees deducted) ?

They show as an incoming transaction in transactions tab, but do not show on the reconciling page so totals are not matching to Bank Statements.

Do I need to Match, Create or Transfer? - Stripe account is not showing in the Transfer option.

    Hi Clare,

    Thanks for using Community Hub.

I have attached some article below to answer your questions.

    Connect to Stripe

Reconcile Strip payments though Sage Accounting

The stripe payments that show in your bank feed will only appear ion the Bank reconciliation page once they have been matched,  created or transferred and you have confirmed what the transaction was for in the bank feed, then the transaction will appear in the Bank account in sage accounting.

If this helps, please let me know by clicking Verify Answer.

    Hi Stuart,

Thank you for confirming - I now understand the Stripe payments will only appear once they have been matched but its the matching I'm struggling with.

    If I select:

the Match option - I only have the option to match these payments with invoices but this was already done when payment was sent by the client.

the Create option - Gives me all the customer details we hold or to create a new customer, but it seems to be these funds are already applied to a customer record because of the way it was paid. Should I create a new customer and call it Stripe?

the Transfer option - This to me seems the obvious answer as it technically is a transfer from the Stripe account into our main account but Stripe does not show as an option on the list of accounts here.

    Help!
