Hello Dave,

When you select Verify Details with HMRC, you will be directed to Gov.uk where you can confirm the subcontractors registration and deduction rate. A prompt to sign in to the Government Gateway will appear. Ensure you have the following information readily available:

• Your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR)
• The reference number for your HMRC accounts office
• Your HMRC employer reference

You will also need your subcontractors:

• UTR
• For sole traders, provide National Insurance numbers for verification, excluding temporary numbers beginning with TN or two digits
• Company name, company UTR and registration number if they're a limited company
• Nominated partner details, trading name and partnership UTR if they're a partnership

You are correct there is no inbuilt mechanism for CIS verification. The link does take you to the HMRC where there is a link to their tool for verification.

You will however need your government gateway credentials. There is more information here - Set up a contact as a subcontractor for CIS

Ok, so just to confirm it so basically we still need to use the HMRC CIS online service to verify it?
