How to do a credit note for an invoice that has already been paid

Accidently invoiced the wrong client and that client just paid. 
 now i need to do a credit note! I can't see that option?

Hi Fransisco, Thanks for coming back. If the option is greyed out, that suggests you're trying to create the credit note from the invoice, you need to create a stand alone credit note, see the steps in the article under Save a credit note and match to invoices later Andy Sage UKI
