Purchases from a Marginal VAT user

Question

I recently purchased second hand goods from a company using the Marginal VAT scheme. Therefore there is no VAT shown on the invoice, and nothing can be reclaimed. What VAT code should I use in Sage Start please, Zero Rated, Exempt, or No VAT?

When recording tax liability, even for zero value with the three options you've suggested, we'd recommend checking with HMRC or your accountant to ensure the right treatment is used for a particular situation.
