Indian NI Number for graduate student

Hi I have a new payroll and they have employed a granduate student from India that has been given a ni number for the UK but sage payroll will not accept the number, anyone else had this problem?

Thanks for using Sage City.

Just a couple of things to check first, without publishing the number here, does it follow the correct format for a National Insurance number ie two letters, 6 numbers and a letter between A-D at the end? HMRC National Insurance Number format >

Are there any specific error messages when you attempt to enter the number?
