This article reflects collaborative planning sessions with the Sage CRM development, support, and QA teams, along with commercial stakeholders, to revise the roadmap and ensure that it matches Sage's vision for the product.
Please note that this roadmap is indicative and is subject to change and all dates are estimates. Items may be delayed and reprioritised.
Sage's multi-year vision for Sage CRM emphasizes seamless integration with Sage accounting products, a modern, intuitive user experience, and powerful APIs to facilitate third-party connections. In 2025, priorities include finalizing the 64-bit transition, enhancing Exchange Online integration via MS Graph, and advancing security with Single Sign-On and MFA. The year will also see streamlined administrative tools, automated deployment options for partners, and visual improvements such as customizable avatars and enhanced reporting features. For 2026, a new natural language reporting feature, powered by AI, will empower users to create custom reports easily, minimizing reliance on system administrators.
Our ongoing modernization saw a big step in 2024 with a fully 64-bit Java environment. In 2025, we’re focusing on completing the 64-bit transition and updating third-party components and libraries. This was partially completed in Sage CRM 2024 R1, and the goal is to finalize it in 2025 R1 with a new burst of investment to address technical debt. The updates will also simplify interfaces, improve administrative tools, streamline data fields, refine demo data, and enhance dashboards with expanded chart types.
However, some developments, such as Exchange Integration, have shifted to 2025 R1 to focus on transitioning from Exchange Web Services (EWS) to MS Graph for Exchange Online, which doesn’t affect on-premise Exchange users.
Seamless Integration Capabilities
Our top priority is to enable smooth integration with Sage accounting products. In North America, we’re aligning more closely with Sage 100 and Sage 300, focusing on Sage 300 due to its global reach. In the UK and Ireland, our focus will be on Sage 200.
Empowering Customers with Insights and a Holistic View
We aim to enhance the product to empower customers, allowing them to act effectively on insights gained through Sage CRM.
Robust APIs and Effortless 3rd-Party Connections
Improving our APIs is essential. We’re ensuring that they’re powerful, reliable, and able to meet various integration needs.
A Modern, Intuitive Experience
Modernizing and simplifying our interfaces remains a priority. We’re refining screens and improving accessibility, especially for administrative users.
Deploy Anywhere and Drive Continuous Innovation
We’re working with the UK team to integrate fully with the Sage Partner Cloud, particularly in multi-tenant database management, while addressing challenges in this environment.
Security and User Experience Enhancements
We initially planned to introduce Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in 2024, but this will now be explored in 2025 as we integrate MS Graph and other APIs. Additionally, an experimental initiative across 2025 will leverage the Sage Network and related modules to accelerate development.
Key updates in 2025
Our roadmap includes automating deployment for Sage CRM within the Sage Partner Cloud. With the upcoming transition from Exchange Web Services to MS Graph due to Microsoft’s policy changes, we’re fully committed to making this shift, which will guide future product directions into 2026.
Also included are:
- Streamlined log management, allowing administrators to zip and send logs directly to support, enhancing support efficiency.
- “Silent install” for rapid deployment, especially beneficial for hosting partners in cloud environments.
- Enhanced User and Administrative Features in 2025 R2
We’re introducing visually engaging features such as customizable user avatars and team colour-coding in calendars and lists. Additionally, enhanced reporting will allow users to schedule and automate report distribution, and a new WhatsApp integration will support outbound messaging.
Comprehensive Modernization
With additional resources and a new development philosophy in place, 2025 will complete the 64-bit architecture transition, update underlying technologies, and optimize performance and security. We’re maintaining full backward compatibility so that customers can seamlessly upgrade to 2025 R1 and beyond without disruption.
Further ahead in 2026, we’re aiming to let users type in natural language to create custom reports and group definitions. For example, users can simply ask for “a report showing customers with the most returns in the last five years,” which will be converted into a query. This will reduce the workload of system administrators and allow users to generate reports easily with AI tools like Sage Copilot.
This applies to Sage CRM stand-alone and when integrated with Sage accounting products. Sage 50, Sage 100, Sage 200, Sage 1000, Sage 300, Sage X3 and Sage Intacct.
