Sage CRM 2025: Introducing Sage CRM Labs

3 minute read time.

Accelerating Innovation Through Experimental, Opt-In Features

Sage CRM continues to evolve, supported by a long-term roadmap and a renewed commitment to innovation across the Sage ecosystem. Over the past year, this has been visible at events around the world, such as TPAC, where partners have seen first-hand how Sage CRM is expanding in capability, integrations, and developer opportunities. Sage’s strategy includes not only core product releases but also a new way to bring early-stage ideas to customers more quickly.

With Sage CRM 2025 R2, we are pleased to introduce Sage CRM Labs – a programme designed to deliver experimental, opt-in components that partners can install, explore and evaluate in real implementations.

These Labs components are not full product features yet. Instead, they are proof-of-concept innovations, released to gather real-world feedback, demonstrate technical possibilities, and help shape future roadmap decisions. Each Labs feature is delivered as a standard Sage CRM component: it can be installed, tested, uninstalled, and reviewed through linked documentation and disclaimers in the Component Manager interface.

In Sage CRM 2025 R2, two Labs components are available:

Quote Templates (Enable Quote Templates): Save complex quotes once, reuse them everywhere

Many Sage CRM customers regularly build detailed, multi-line quotations that combine products or service bundles from multiple price lists. Re-creating these complex quotes for each new customer or opportunity is time-consuming and error-prone.

The Quote Templates Labs component introduces two new capabilities:

  • Save as Template
    • From an existing quote, a user can now save the complete quotation – including all line items, pricing and associated metadata – as a reusable template. A dedicated screen lists all templates, allowing them to be renamed or deleted as needed.
  • New Quote from Template
    • Within any opportunity, users can now generate a new quotation based on one of the stored templates. The system copies all the template details into a new quote in edit mode, allowing adjustments before saving. Templates are global, so any user may reuse them.

This Labs feature is ideal for organisations that sell standardised solution bundles, service packages, or multi-line product offerings and want to streamline how quotes are created.

Webhooks (Enable Webhooks): Modern integrations through event-driven automation

The second Labs component introduces Webhook support, enabling Sage CRM to communicate with external systems in real time whenever specific data changes occur.

Once installed, a new Webhooks configuration area appears under Advanced Customisation. Administrators can define:

  • Webhook targets: including authentication (Basic or API Key), endpoint URLs, and named configurations
  • Events: such as CompanyUpdate or CaseUpdate, mapped to Table Level Script triggers
  • Payloads: which send structured JSON containing CRM data to the configured endpoint

When a relevant action occurs inside Sage CRM – for example, a company record is updated – a webhook call is sent to the external service.

This Labs feature demonstrates how future versions of Sage CRM can support modern, event-driven integrations, making it easier to connect Sage CRM to external platforms, workflow tools, automation engines and custom applications.

Designed for exploration. Built for feedback.

Both Labs components were created as installable modules so partners and customers can try them, learn from them, and provide input. They include:

  • Clear disclaimers and documentation
  • Full visibility of database tables added by the component
  • The ability to uninstall through the Component Manager
  • Example implementations and test scenarios shared during partner sessions

They are intentionally simple first iterations, reflecting the purpose of Sage CRM Labs: to open a pathway for earlier experimentation and partner collaboration before features become part of the core product.

Looking Ahead

Sage CRM Labs is the first step in a broader strategy to accelerate innovation while maintaining the stability and reliability customers expect. As Sage continues to invest in Sage CRM – through roadmap delivery, UI enhancements, and AI-enabled features – Labs will provide a platform where new ideas can be explored more quickly with the partner community.

The Quote Templates and Webhooks components in Sage CRM 2025 R2 represent just the beginning. Much more is planned as we move toward future releases, including iterative improvements based on partner feedback.
