Supported Upgrade Paths

3 minute read time.

This article is intended for System Administrators that require guidance on supported upgrade paths when upgrading from a much older version of Sage CRM to current, supported versions.

Upgrading to a supported version of Sage CRM keeps your system secure, reliable, and running smoothly.  It ensures you have access to the latest features, support, and improved performance, all while staying compliant with changing technology and regulations.

There are times when one might need to upgrade from a much older, unsupported version, such as Sage CRM 7.X or perhaps even older.  These upgrade paths might not be mentioned within the Release Notes for supported versions listed on the Sage CRM Help Centre https://help.sagecrm.com/

In this article, we have summarized the Direct Upgrade Paths from version 7.3 SP3 to the most current version of Sage CRM (at the time of this article), being 2024 R2.  We have also supplied the Supported Longtail Upgrade Path from 7.1 SP1 to 2024 R2.

Important Notes:

  • Install only one Sage CRM instance per server.  Sage does not support configurations where two or more Sage CRM instances are installed on the same server.
  • After installing Sage CRM, you must log on to Sage CRM as system administrator at least once before upgrading to the next version.  This is required to update the Sage CRM database correctly.
  • Upgrades are released twice a year.  Upgrades include feature enhancements, bug fixes as well as infrastructure changes.
  • Sage supports the current version of Sage CRM and two versions prior.  At the time of this article, the current version of Sage CRM is Sage CRM 2024 R2, therefore versions 2024, 2023, and 2022 are supported.
