Important Update on Upcoming Patches for Sage CRM

We recently shared information about Microsoft’s removal of the Application Impersonation role in Exchange Online, a change that affects Sage CRM’s integration with Microsoft Exchange Online. (https://communityhub.sage.com/sage-global-solutions/sage-crm/f/announcements/233313/advisory-sage-crm-and-the-end-of-application-impersonation-in-ms-exchange-online) To address this, we have been developing version-specific patches to ensure compatibility with Exchange Online following this transition.

Patch Release Timeline Update

While we are in the final stages of preparing these patches, they may not be available before the end of February 2025. We sincerely regret this delay and understand the importance of these updates for your business operations. Please be assured that our team is applying all efforts to release these patches as soon as possible.

Due to this delay, customers who integrate Sage CRM with Microsoft Exchange Online may experience an interruption to their service. The delay is due to the complexity of transitioning from Microsoft Exchange Web Services (EWS) to Microsoft Graph API. This shift ensures a future-proof integration that aligns with Microsoft’s security enhancements and evolving service architecture.

What This Means for You

  • If you are currently using Sage CRM with Microsoft Exchange On-Premise, this change does not impact you.
  • If you are using Sage CRM with Microsoft Exchange Online, you may experience issues with connectivity due to the removal of the Application Impersonation role.
  • For customers implementing a new Sage CRM integration with Microsoft Exchange Online, we recommend holding off until the patches are available.

Alternative Solution: QuickCal Addon

Customers who need to ensure that appointments created and updated in Sage CRM are added to their calendar are advised to consider the QuickCal addon, which provides an alternative way to manage calendar events:

  1. An appointment is created or updated in Sage CRM.
  2. The system automatically sends email notifications to all participants.
  3. The email includes a link to download an ICS file.
  4. Attendees click the link and import the ICS file into their calendars.

Supported Calendar Systems:

  • Desktop Clients:
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Apple Calendar (iCal)
    • Thunderbird, etc.
  • Web-Based Calendars:
    • Google Calendar
    • Outlook.com
    • Yahoo Calendar, etc.
  • Mobile Calendars:
    • iOS Calendar
    • Android Calendar, etc.

Next Steps

We will provide a further update once the patches are finalized and ready for release. The patches will apply to:

  • Sage CRM 2022 R1 and R2 – Patch 2022 R2.6
  • Sage CRM 2023 R1 and R2 – Patch 2023 R2.4
  • Sage CRM 2024 R1 and R2 – Patch 2024 R2.1

  • Sage CRM & Exchange Online Integration: Patch Release Update
