Sage CRM and Microsoft Exchange Online Integration - Patch Release Date

 Sage CRM Exchange Integration enables synchronization between Sage CRM and cloud-based Microsoft Exchange Online.

Current Functionality

  • Synchronization: Appointments, tasks, and contacts can be synchronized automatically in the background between Sage CRM and Exchange, without requiring user intervention. 
  • Synchronization continues even when Outlook clients are closed.
  • Supported Platforms: Integration works with Outlook client, Outlook Web Access, and mobile devices connected to Exchange.

Upcoming Changes (Migration to Microsoft Graph API)

Due to Microsoft's removal of the Application Impersonation Role in Exchange Online (February 2025), Sage CRM has transitioned from Exchange Web Services (EWS) to the Microsoft Graph API in upcoming patches and Sage CRM 2025 R1.

What This Means for You

  • If you are currently using Sage CRM with Microsoft Exchange On-Premise, this change does not impact you.
  • If you are using Sage CRM with Microsoft Exchange Online, you will have experienced issues with connectivity due to the removal of the Application Impersonation role at the end of February 2025.

Key changes:

  • Bi-directional synchronization of appointments will be maintained and prioritized in the patches.
  • Import Emails and Contacts replaces the previous contact synchronization feature.
  • Task synchronization will be introduced in Sage CRM 2025 R1 or a subsequent patch.
  • Microsoft Graph API integration will use Delegated Permissions, requiring users to be signed in, with access limited to their permissions.

Subject to satisfactory testing by QA, the patches will be released by Friday, March 14th, 2025, at the latest.

This transition ensures continued integration while aligning with Microsoft's security model.

Next Steps

The upcoming patches will apply to:

  • Sage CRM 2022 R1 & R2 – Patch 2022 R2.6
  • Sage CRM 2023 R1 & R2 – Patch 2023 R2.4
  • Sage CRM 2024 R1 & R2 – Patch 2024 R2.1

These updates will support both standalone Sage CRM installations and those integrated with:

Sage 50, Sage 100, Sage 200, Sage 300, Sage X3, Sage Intacct
