Advisory: Sage CRM and Microsoft Exchange Online Integration patch now available for Sage CRM 2024 R2

We are pleased to announce that the Sage CRM 2024 R2.1 patch is available today, 14th March 2025. The remaining patches, for Sage CRM 2022 (R1 and R2) and Sage CRM 2023 (R1 and R2) will be released next week

Sage CRM Exchange Integration

Sage CRM’s Exchange Integration enables seamless synchronization between Sage CRM and Microsoft Exchange Online.

Current Functionality

  • Synchronization: Appointments, tasks, and contacts sync automatically between Sage CRM and Exchange without user intervention.
  • Continuous Sync: Synchronization continues even when Outlook clients are closed.
  • Supported Platforms: Works with Outlook Client, Outlook Web Access, and mobile devices connected to Exchange.

Key Changes (Migration to Microsoft Graph API)

Following Microsoft's removal of the Application Impersonation Role in Exchange Online (February 2025), Sage CRM has transitioned from Exchange Web Services (EWS) to the Microsoft Graph API to ensure continued functionality.

What This Means for You

  • If you are using Sage CRM with Microsoft Exchange On-Premise, this change does not impact you.
  • If you are using Sage CRM with Microsoft Exchange Online, you will have experienced connectivity issues due to Microsoft’s changes.

The new patches restore Exchange Online integration with improved security and compatibility.

Key Changes in the Patch

  • Bi-directional synchronization of appointments is maintained and prioritized.
  • "Import Emails and Contacts" replaces the previous contact synchronization feature.
  • Task synchronization will be introduced in Sage CRM 2025 R1 or a future patch.

This transition aligns Sage CRM’s integration with Microsoft’s evolving security model while ensuring uninterrupted functionality.

Next Steps

The patches apply to the following versions:

  • Released Today (14th March 2025): Sage CRM 2024 R2.1
  • Releasing Next Week: Sage CRM 2022 R2.6 & 2023 R2.4

These updates support both standalone Sage CRM installations and those integrated with:
Sage 50, Sage 100, Sage 200, Sage 300, Sage X3, Sage Intacct
