Quick Configuration

Quick Configuration - Summary

The Quick Configuration component is a Sage CRM Labs component first released for Sage CRM 2026 R2. It provides system administrators with a single administration screen for enabling or suppressing major areas of Sage CRM and simplifying the interface to suit the requirements of an organisation.

The component is particularly useful for implementations that do not require every Sage CRM module or feature. It can reduce unnecessary menu options and tabs, helping users concentrate on the parts of Sage CRM that are relevant to their work.

Note

The Quick Configuration tool is intended primarily for use on a new, uncustomised Sage CRM installation. It does not remove or update links held in users’ Recent lists or Favourites. If the system has already been used, including where demo data has been installed, users may still retain links to records in areas that have subsequently been suppressed. For example, if Opportunities are hidden, a user may still have a Favourite pointing to an Opportunity record, and selecting that link may produce an error or other unexpected behaviour.

What this component does

The Quick Configuration component provides five configuration options:

Use Sales Module

Controls the visibility of sales-related features, including Leads, Opportunities, Quotes, Orders and forecasting options. When this option is cleared, the component suppresses the associated tabs and menu items. Existing sales data is not deleted.

Use Marketing Module

Controls the visibility of marketing-related features, including Marketing, Campaigns, Waves, Calls and the marketing tabs available from Company and Person records. When this option is cleared, the associated tabs and menu items are suppressed.

Use Customer Service Module

Controls the visibility of customer-service features, including Cases and Solutions. When this option is cleared, the associated tabs and menu items are suppressed. Existing Case and Solution records are not deleted.

Use Workflow Features

Controls whether workflow is enabled for supported Sage CRM entities. The component updates the workflow settings for Cases, Solutions, Opportunities, Leads, Campaigns, Companies and People.

When this option is cleared, workflow is disabled and the affected entities use their non-workflow behaviour where this is supported.

Use Advanced Interface Options

Controls the availability of several less commonly used interface and administration features. Clearing this option suppresses selected dynamic, Quick Look, team list, related-entity and other advanced tabs.

It also changes the following system settings:

  • Deduplication
  • Mail merge to Microsoft Word
  • Report summaries
  • Report export availability for non-administrators
  • Export to file
  • Send email

Clearing this option is intended to provide a simpler Sage CRM interface for organisations that do not require these features.

The component stores the five selections in the Custom_SysParams table. It also updates appropriate system parameters and tab-sensitivity rules in the Custom_Tabs table.

When suppressing tabs, the component does not overwrite an existing tab-sensitivity rule. It only applies or removes the 1=2 suppression condition used by the component.

Changes to the User Interface

Installing the component adds a Quick Configuration administration screen containing five check boxes:

  • Use Sales Module
  • Use Marketing Module
  • Use Customer Service Module
  • Use Workflow Features
  • Use Advanced Interface Options

The screen uses the standard Sage CRM entry-group layout and Save button.

Depending on the selections made, users may see changes to the main menu, entity tabs and available actions. For example, disabling the Sales Module suppresses access to Leads, Opportunities, Quotes, Orders and forecasting options.

The component changes the visibility of features rather than deleting the underlying records. Re-enabling a module makes the relevant tabs and menu options available again.

After a configuration change is saved, the screen displays a summary of the updates that have been made and a message advising that a metadata refresh is required.

How to Use

  1. Sign in to Sage CRM as a system administrator.
  2. Open the Quick Configuration administration screen installed by the component.
  3. Select the features that should be available:
    • Select Use Sales Module to make Leads, Opportunities, Quotes, Orders and forecasting options available.
    • Select Use Marketing Module to make Marketing, Campaign, Wave and related marketing options available.
    • Select Use Customer Service Module to make Cases and Solutions available.
    • Select Use Workflow Features to enable workflow for the supported entities.
    • Select Use Advanced Interface Options to make the additional interface, reporting, export, email, deduplication and mail-merge features available.
  4. Clear a check box to suppress or disable the corresponding features.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Review the update messages displayed above the Quick Configuration screen.
  7. Perform a Sage CRM metadata refresh when prompted.

Users may need to refresh their browser or sign out and sign back in before every interface change becomes visible.

Before disabling a module, consider whether users still need access to records or processes associated with that module. The component suppresses access through the standard interface, but it does not remove existing data.

The five Quick Configuration records must exist in Custom_SysParams. These records are normally created when the component is installed:

  • UseSalesModule
  • UseMarketingModule
  • UseCustomerServiceModule
  • UseWorkflowFeatures
  • UseAdvancedOptions

Uninstalling the Quick Configuration feature

To remove the Quote Templates Labs component from Sage CRM:

  1. Go to Administration
    Customization
    Component Manager.

  2. Locate the Quick Configuration (or equivalent) component in the list.

  3. Run the component again and choose Uninstall:

    • This will:

      • Remove the Administration Page added by the component.

      • Remove the associated ASP pages from the Sage CRM interface.

      • Remove any custom menu or tab entries added specifically for the Quick Configuration feature.
