Shipping software for Sage 100

Looking for alternatives to Starship- is anyone currently using a different shipping software that integrates with and writes back to Sage 100?

We're running Sage 100 2022

Not sure what functionality you need but if you just need info from the order such as the ship to address to be imported in from Sage 100 to UPS/FedEx and things like tracking numbers and freight amounts to come back into Sage 100 that can be done without any additional software using keyed imports in UPS/FedEx and a user defined script in Sage.

DSD has an enhancement - SOSI Shipping Integration

Thanks- yes, that's the type of functionality we need.  So this solution would interface with each carrier's web interface separately?

Thanks, I will check it out

Are you using their web interfaces or their shipping softwares that are installed on the computers?

We have used the Warehouse Automation program from IIG (https://www.iigservices.com/shipping-system-integration).  We have a few customizations done to it that allow us to do some specific things we needed like ship post office flats (our catalogs in an envelope), break the weight between boxes at certain cutpoints, and to print multiple zebra labels from the post office without jamming the printer.

We use it in our sales order entry to get our rate quotes from multiple shippers in one window and then have the quoted shipping charge and chosen service (ShipVia) write back into the sales order.  This rate shopping window opens via a button on the sales order. We sort the results by the price, so we may have a quote for Post office ground, then FedEx home and then UPS Ground and then FedEx 2 day and then FedEx overnight and then UPS Next Day.  We did some work on this to get all rates to show within 13 seconds.  The time of the call to the shipping server per box was 6.5 seconds and if we had an order that was 200 pounds, with 45 pound box maximum, we would have 5 calls.  Waiting for 5 X 6.5seconds was way too much time since the first 4 boxes were the same quote and only the last one might be different as it pulled a quote based on the remainder of the weight.

Then we have Sales Order Shipping where we ship over 100 orders of mix and match items in 1 to 20 boxes per order each day per user.  When we have days with lots of the same items in the same packaging, we can get out several hundred orders per shipper per day.  No matter the service, we ship from the same interface in Sage.  The services carry over from the sales order, but can be changed from a pull-down menu.  We also have a rate check button to do a call to the server to see what the actual shipping charge is for the weight and dimensions of the boxes in the order.

We print out zebra labels from Endicia, FedEx, and UPS on the same zebra printer (We deploy GX420d and ZP505 printers).  The software offers a lot of additional things that we don't use (haz mat, dry ice, LTL come to mind).

The engine under the hood is Malvern Shipping Server.   We pay extra for direct Malvern support as they are in our Eastern timezone and thus available earlier than IIG on the west coast.  IIG and Malvern have both been good to work with.  We also have IIG credit card processing so we can take multiple payments of different types (mix of credit cards, cash, checks, gift cards) on a sales order and their Fast Sale POS system.

We also have Sage 100 2022.  We started with IIG with Sage 2014 and had them upgrade us to 2018 and 2022.  I am hoping for a 2024 upgrade this winter once I have some other server projects completed.  I did not know about the DSD/SOSi offering before, but after reading the online info sheet, I think that IIG WHA is a lot more automated and ties all the carriers together so they are just accessed from Sage.

    I hope this helps.

Not sure which we would use, it would depend on what the carriers suggest.  We're still just trying to understand what options are out there at this point.
