I believe the correct steps are as follows:

1. Upgrade to 4.5 (I believe at least PU8 is required)

2. Upgrade to 2017, 2018, or 2019 (find the upgrade documentation for 2019 and see if upgrading from 4.5 is on the list.  Keep working backwards to 2018, 2017, etc. until you see upgrading from 4.5 in the documentation

3. Upgrade to 2024 or 2025 depending on 3rd party apps’ compatibility

I also read where some people were able to upgrade from 4.5 PU8 or higher to a current version.  Probably worth a try.

Going to v2018+ requires a middle step, somewhere between v4.5.8 and v2017.

v4.05 has lots of modules still in the old framework, which can complicate the migration / conversions.  If you have problems going straight to v2017, a stop at v4.5.8 might help with that, since the conversion logic from v4.05 to v4.5.8 would be well tested / proven.

You can't go directly from v4.05 to v2024.  The migration program will throw an error as soon as you choose your source data.  The middle step is not optional.

The customer using MAS90 4.05 has no idea what the Administrator password is. He has never used Administrator user.

How can I reset the Administrator password?

I thought you could only create a new user once logged into Administrator which we can't do at the moment.

The main user has an amin role. Unfortunately that user has no password set.

resetting the admin password is the easiest thing to do.

Can the Administrator password be nulled with DFDM?

No, the administrator password needs to be at least 8 characters. If the main user has admin rights, they can log in and access the library master > user maintenance menu and create a new user with an 8 character password.

Alternatively, you could still do the Sage 100 upgrade.  Then, after the upgrade, make a new company and use the master file copy utility to set up your “new” company.

Yes, you must do at least one middle stop for the upgrade path.  The benefit is that you get transaction history readily available in the one system.
