Sage 100 Advanced - Backup suggestions

SUGGESTED

I'm new to Sage.I wanted to see what people are using for their Sage 100 Advanced Backups.

I have Sage 100 virtualized (Hyper-V) on Server 2012 Standard.

I have setup a temporary backup solution that I came up with on my own:

1) Sage Server (Virtual Server) runs a 12PM Windows backup to a VHD that is located on the Host server.

2) Host server is getting backed up nightly at 3am with windows backup on 2 USB drives on rotation. Sage VHD and my Backup VHD are both getting backed up in this nightly backup.

Solution works and I have ran several test restores including a restore of my entire Sage directory after corruption due to a virus. However, I don't understand Sage enough to be sure that there are no Sage open files that windows backup is not catching.  However if  I understand how Windows backup uses VSS to backup a running VHD, I think open files should not be a problem.

Any thoughts on my whole setup are appreciated, especially from anyone running in a virtualized environment.

We are currently using VEEAM. I HIGHLY recommend you take a look at it. While I run a VMware shop, it also works with Hyper-V.

I prefer this over anything else because of the snapshot ability and replication. Currently my live server replicates every hour from 7am-7pm M-F to another ESXi host and serves as a warm standby. If something happens to the live server it can automatically light up the replicant and not be missing more than an hour's worth of data. Additionally I can light that warm standby unit to any one of the last 6 snapshots (last 6 hours.)

That's on top of the backups that it makes to Tape and to another NAS. I can be up and running within minutes and still have the historical backups to go back a month or more with relative ease.

I used to rely solely on Backup Exec, (and still do for my few remaining physical servers) but VEEAM's versatility has been that extra push to virtualize even some of the legacy machines.
