tax groups and conversion

Question

When doing the 2018 conversion, does each employee have to be manually converted to the new tax group structure or is this done through the conversion wizard?

Hi Ted H and K Anderson 
 During conversion to Payroll 2.x the conversion wizard will ask you to map your current state and local tax groups to the new tax group, you will also be asked to setup new Tax Profiles. This mapping will then be used to map existing data in payroll. You will however, need to go into your employees after and verify their tax setup. These mappings will be re-used during subsequent company conversions so that you do not have to re-map existing legacy groups to 2.x groups.

The conversion should convert all the employee info, tax groups, filing status (there is a mapping for these in the conversion wizard as well), to the new 2.x employee table. However, it should be reviewed after the conversion. There is a new utility in the Payroll / Utility menu called 'Payroll Status Check' which will do a scan of your payroll company, looking for things that aren't setup. This is a great place to start to see if there are other pieces that need to be setup after conversion.
