Time Off Ceiling Limit

Suggested

All these questions pertain to payroll time-off and are related. The answer to one question may answer all of the questions but clarification is needed to allow the time-off options to accrue correctly.

Where in Payroll, Time Off Maintenance, do I enter the time-off (PTO) ceiling limit. Not the accrual limit but the total number of hours an employee can have available to use after the process of accrued+carry over - hours used. Because once they hit the maximum hours allowed, the accruing stops until some PTO is used.

Question 2 - on an employee profile, under tab 3 Benefits, Time Off Hours, is the annual limit column the accrual limit, employee ceiling allowed?

Question 3 - in Payroll Options, tab 3 Time Off, Hours to use for Time Off Limit, our company has 2 benefits with different types of accrual. I understand that the update allows for an additional time off setting. We have MN Paid Family Medical Leave, maximum annual accrual of 48 hours, 80 maximum carryover; and PTO with a maximum ceiling limit of 200 hours. If I set the Hours to use for Time Off Limit to: Accrued Hours Only (this is how our MN PFML calculates), does that setting apply to the MN PFML or PTO as they process differently. The MN PFML should process as Accrued Hours Only and PTO process is Accrued+Carry Over-Used. This tab has all leave options listed, Vacation, Sick-ESSL and PTO so I do not know what rules apply to what leave.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    1) In Setup, Payroll Options, you choose to base the time off availability on Accrual or Limit.

If you select Limit, it calculates available annual limit - amount used.  The Limit is Hours/Year in the Time Off Maintenenace.

If you select Accrual, the formula is accrual amount-amount used.   The accrual is in Employee Maintenance, Benefit tab, Accrued column.

    2) Yes, it comes from Hours/Year in the Time Off Maintenance Code used.

    3)  We just released the Additional Limit settings specifically for the MN ESST.  KB 26119193036237 Time-Off Maintenance Additional Limit  Help also explains the new fields.  Put your cursor in the field and click F1 key.
