Sage 300 PU6: "Error: Failed to create Vault settings"

Hello,

I'm having issues configuring my database connection from PU1 to PU6. I followed other guides and answers from this community, and I still get this error.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ethan

  • Hi  we've provided a lot of support recently on some other threads, could you read through all the notes on this one and see if it helps first up?  RE: Sage 300 ERP 2023 can't connect to vault and store database

Remember - the account that you setup as the Sage300VaultOwner needs to be Sysadmin.  In the thread linked above there is the official Enhanced Security guide which will normally always get you out of trouble followed from start to finishThumbsup  Good luck...Tim

The thread above doesn't seem to solve anything for me. I am able to configure the ODBC connection just fine and I've recreated databases.

I did notice that my UNC path works for the SharedData directory where as it doesn't work for others, however when I try to set it as a mapped drive it refuses the connection. I cannot even get past the sign-on screen here.

Could this be part of the issue?

Hi  avoid using mapped drives now as they don't work with the new versions of Sage 300.  With the screenshot you posted above, when you enter the ADMIN password you're saying you receive the error "Failed to create the Vault Settings?"  And the SQL Authentication (NOT Windows Auth) account you created for the Sage300VaultUser has Sysadmin permissions - have you tried the sa Password on the Sage300Vault and Sage300Store database configuration screen?  Please provide a video of the error occuring so we can get a feel for the issue.  Your Programs Path should be something like \\sage300server\sage\sage300apps and your shared data should be something like \\sage300server\sage\sage300shared.  Make sure the registry and system path on the machine you're trying to fix this on hasn't become messed up.  Open HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\ACCPAC\ACCPAC INTERNATIONAL, INC\Configuration and check the Programs and SharedData entries are correct:

Also check there are no duplicate entries in your system path, only the one:

If none of that helps, just rename your SITE and RUNTIME folders, repair your install by running the Sage 300 server installer again, repair the install, and try opening Database Setup again to create the Vault and Store databases again.

Please also ensure your SQL Local Security Policy is set as friendly as possible, for example on my Sage 300 DEMO server here are the values I have set, you can always lock the settings down to something more sensible once you're up and running:

Trying my best...hope this helps!  Tim

  • I have this same issue on one client and I haven't resolved it yet but I am 99% sure it's to do with folder permissions on the SITE folder.

Their installation is hosted and in this case the Application, SQL and Shared Data folder are on 3 different servers. The Shared Data directory is in the following format \\dataserver\d$\SageShared. The user I log on with has full permissions to the Shared Folder. It seems the installer just can't create the Vault folder.

I haven't gone back to this one yet because an backup and restore takes forever

    Hi

The following KB article content below could be tried for this issue.

During Vault and Store update returns error Failed to create Vault settings.

    Description

During update process to create store and vault databases, error occurs when there is insufficient rights of logged in Window user.

    Resolution

Windows User will require sufficient rights to be able to delete, create and execute in SharedData location.  If the user lacks rights the Vault folder may not be created and after migration the orgs.ism user.ism file will not be deleted.
