Sage 300 2021 and FR on Excel O365

Based on Release Notes, O365 for emailing out of Sage 300 2021 (PU5 +) works just fine and is supported using MSGraph (have clients using it) but, for the financial reporter Excel O365 is not supported, correct? Excel 2016 or 2019 is still required.

Thanks for any input.

Microsoft 365 works fine with FR as long as Excel (downloaded from your MS365 site) is installed locally.

Thanks, Jim.  Will give that a try on one of the PC's where FR is not currently working and is getting "cmdStart: Error on running InstalledAdinAndXLStart"

    Hello KKyle,

2021 only supports 32-BIT Excel.. that error message to me looks like they have 64-BIT Excel.. 64-BIT support was introduced in Sage 300 2022 or later..

    Just want to confirm.

    Regards,

    Hi,

That was always my understanding, that Excel 32-bit is required for Sage 2021.  I will check in with the IT to see that they are still doing a local install of Excel 32-bit. However, the users that are encountering the error are those that are using Excel O365, I am not sure at the moment if IT has been installing it locally as per Jim's comments above.

Can you confirm whether or not Excel 365 is supported if installed locally so long as it is 32 bit?

Office 365 when installed locally has the same build and version numbers as the 20xx Retail Versions, just O365 comes with additional connected services and features as well as the ability to select different 'update channels' if you prefer a more mature release schedule.  Therefore whether you install Office Perpetual or Office 365, providing their on matching update schedules they will both be the same core build of office.  Sage 300 integrates with core office components, not the newer connected services and other features, so it doesn't care whether its Perpetual or 365 (this is not official, just from my experience).  So if you install 32-bit O365 locally it will work with Sage 300.  Most of our clients run O365. Occasionally the monthly Windows/Office updates will break integration though I haven't noticed this occur for quite some time now.   Here is a comparison of builds between Office Perpetual and Office 365 taken from different sections on learn.microsoft.com/.../
