Just a reminder, you should not try to submit 1099s via Sage 500 ERP prior to applying our 1099 Stand-Alone updates, which are expected to be available at the end of the year. Stand-Alone updates will be provided for Sage 500 ERP versions:
- 2018 (this is the last year for this version to receive them)
- 2019 (TY 2026 will be the last year for this version to receive them)
- 2021
- 2023
- 2024
- 2026
To use them, you must have the last 1099 updates installed. Your 1099 data itself must be at the TY 2022 level. Note that this is the last year that we will deliver them for Sage 500 ERP version 2018, In TY 2026, Sage 500 ERP version 2019 will be the last one to be delivered. Keep in mind that these updates are not cumulative and rely upon current 1099 data.
They will also appear in the Jan 2026 PUs for the supported versions, but the January 2026 PUs will not arrive until the end of January 2026.
While you can prep your system with data, if necessary, you cannot submit 1099s as our 1099 service provider is currently testing their changes, and our code needs to be updated to accommodate their changes. The main change involves the IRS directed change to have the Golden Parachutes box move from the MISC form to the NEC form. Should you have any data for these boxes, continue to enter the data as MISC box 14. The 1099 Stand-Alone (and PUs) will take care of moving that data to the NEC form box 3. If you do not have any data for this box, you still cannot submit 1099s until the upcoming TY 2025 Stand-Alone updates are applied.
It is best if you do 1099s as early as possible in January. Waiting until the end of the month can cause extra aggravation should your system run into a hiccup.
Also, please have your accounting team check the IRS regulations concerning the number of paper forms you can submit before having to file them electronically. If you have not submitted them electronically before, you may need to setup an account with the service provider. Sage 500 ERP supports Aatrix Software for 1099 processing.
Let me know if you have any questions,
