There will be TY 2024 1099 changes.  These changes will show up on the portals in about two weeks.

This tax season will include Sage 500 ERP application changes.  These changes are necessary to utilize the newer Aatrix Software application that is used under the hood.  While there are no IRS driven changes, these new Sage 500 ERP applications will be necessary regardless of which version of Sage 500 ERP that you are using.  

Additionally, there will be a new "Sage 500 ERP Tax Forms Service" install program that installs a new version of the Aatrix Software application used by Sage 500 ERP underneath the hood.  This new install is required for TY 2024 and beyond and must be installed regardless of the Sage 500 ERP version used.

The TY 2024 changes will include an enhancement to the 1099 Beginning Balances application that will allow the grid to be filtered.

This should help those who have large numbers of entries to edit those entries.  With these filters, you could reduce a thousand entries down to a single entry for editing.  This may be useful for those who import entries from another system, or for those who have accumulated a large number of entries over the years.

Your system needs to be up-to-date with TY 2022 changes which was the last tax year that there were IRS driven changes.

As in the past, your system must be on a current maintenance plan for 1099 processing to function.

The 1099 Compliance Stand-Alone downloads and the  should be available December 30, 2024. 

The Sage 500 ERP Tax Forms Service (Aatrix for Sage 500 ERP) should be available on December 30th also.  This new install install is required for all Sage 500 ERP versions for tax year 2024.  The older version is no longer supported.

These files will show up on the Customer Portal.

Hi Ramon - so what can we do with our client who is still on v2018?  Looks like the ap1099FormsSvcLnch.dll was modified too and the the  ap1099FormsSvc.exe that they used for last year no longer works.  

Sorry about the delay.  Our messaging will be out today and we are finishing it up.  So the downloads you need should be available  from the customer portal.  A Sage Community Hub post should follow in a couple of hours.

We will be supplying updates for versions 2018 to 2024 for Tax Year 2024.  You will need to download the client and database updates for v2018.  In addition, you will need to download the "Download Sage 500 1099 Tax Forms services for TY 2024", which applies to all Sage 500 ERP versions.  It is essentially the Aatrix install which has changed for TY 2024.  If you see the older entry for the Tax Forms Service, do not get that one as I am trying to have it removed.

To update the Tax Forms Service, use Windows Add or Remove Programs to uninstall the old one and then run the new install from the portal.  Admin privileges may be needed to do this.  Recall that this need only be done on the client machine that actually processes the 1099 forms.

Due to Windows UAC functionality and settings, it is best if all 1099 processing is done by a user who has Windows administrator rights.

That is correct.  All the Sage 500 ERP versions call the same Sage 500 Tax Forms Service (the Aatrix Software) in the same way so that is why it is not Sage 500 ERP version dependent.  The Aatrix Software did change in such a way that required some changes in the Sage 500 ERP versions to properly call Aatrix Software.
