Alert: Resolved - Sage 50 US - "An error has occurred in the script on this page"

Final update on Tuesday, September 17, 2024:

On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, we informed you that we were aware of some customers getting a message “An error has occurred in the script on this page” when opening Sage 50.

We are pleased to announce that a fix to resolve the issue has started rolling out today through a Product & Services update. The update will automatically download and install in the background when it is made available and after closing, then reopening Sage 50.

Important! To get this fix, you must be on the latest product version 2024.0 or 2024.0.1. Download here

For additional details, please refer to this Sage Knowledgebase article.

There are reports of "An error has occurred in the script on this page" when opening Sage 50.

The error will pop up each time when opening or changing a company.

The temporary workaround is to click either "Yes" or "No" until the message goes away, and then you can work in Sage 50 normally for that session.

We are currently researching a solution.

  • Has anyone found an update or solution for the script error? Some of my coworkers are experience a total lock up of their Sage app after selecting the NO button for running the script. They can't use the app. The Sage status site claims the issue has been resolved. Sage Status

that Sage Status says the effected products are in Europe, not USA.  So i'm in USA and my company is still experiencing the issue.

    Good afternoon,

Are your users receiving a popup message (about the year-end wizard) after dismissing the script error?  If so, they will need to follow the steps outlined in the Notes section of the following knowledgebase article -Error:"An error has occurred in the script on this Page" .  Relevant steps below:

If the program locks up on the "Would you like to use the Year-End Wizard now?" prompt, do the following:

    1. Open a sample company first, such as Bellwether Garden Supply.
    2. Click No on the script error.
    3. Go to File, Open Company. When prompted, "Do you want to keep [the company] open?", select Yes.
      • If the prompt doesn't come up, go to Options, Global, General, and click Reset at the bottom to reset all one-time messages. Then click OK and go to File, Open Company again
    4. Open your company. Opening it as the second company will keep it from locking up on the Year-End Wizard prompt.

    Thank you.
