Q: What is "red" paper?
A: "Red" paper refers to the Red dropout IRS preprinted forms traditionally used to print W2 forms.

Q: Is red paper the same as 4part perforated paper?
A: No the red paper forms are preprinted usually one or two per page. The four-part perforated are blank and print four copies per page.

Q: Do you need to run the year end wizard from the company server or on an administrator's computer?
A: While the year-end wizard can technically be run from any machine, it is recommended to run it on the server machine to avoid network interruptions.

Q: Why would it not allow the archive even though there was no reason - all paid and updated
A: Archiving companies is a function of Sage 50 Premium, if you were using Sage 50 Pro this option would not be available.

Q: Some of my reports show unprinted checks for multiple years, how do I clear these? Years are closed.
A: An "Unprinted" check is simply a check without a check number, if they are dated in closed years, they can be printed in batch mode (via the reports and forms menu) to assign check numbers.

Q: Is there a cheat sheet for steps to do the year end
A: The Year End Wizard will walk you through the year end closing process.

Q: Can you review what 1099 forms can be printed on regular paper, and which need to be printed on perforated paper?

A: Prior to each print in the 1099 printing process a dialog box will display the paper that should be used.
