We’re investigating an issue that may affect Sage 50 customers when installing the 2026.1 release. Customers may receive the error message "Sage 50 update could not be completed and needs to be run again." In some cases, the message may appear after the update is run again.

Our initial findings indicate this issue may be related to the July payroll tax update.

If you have not installed the July payroll tax update:

• Install the 2026.1 release before installing the July payroll tax update.

If you have already installed the July payroll tax update:

• Follow the steps in the 2026.1 Update section of this knowledgebase article to install the 2026.1 update: Error: "Sage 50 update could not be completed and needs to be run again."
