Import/Export data

I am the treasurer of a none profit and I am trying to export/import data to update an older file 2019-2021 from a newer file so I have all of the data in one place.  I export the data from the new file and then import into the older data.  I use invoices to send to corporate donors and when I get the donation, I enter the receipt as payment for the invoice.  When importing the I have imported the Custormer list and Job ID file but when I import the Cash receipt journal I get an Invoice paid error.  The data line shows the invoice number but little else.  What other file do I need to import for the invoices??  It would be nice if I could export/import one file instead of separate files for receips, payables, and payroll

    I am not quite what you are trying to do but it can be tricky to import data into closed years if that is part of what you are doing.  That can corrupt the GL as their are transaction periods related to the import file.  You also cannot import the same transaction again so if some of the data is already in the older file then that would trip an error.

    I know it is confusing, I started using SAGE in 2019 and during 2020 with COVID I got behind in doing entries, so I started a new file with current entries for 2021 hoping I would find time to update the 2019, 2020 to the 2021 file by entering the transactions. I now have the original 2019 upto 2021 and wanted to try to import the 2022 data instead of reentering the transactions.  Only when importing the receipt.csv file I get an error on the receipts associated to the invoices that were used for donations from corporations.  When I look at the file in Excel, the line generating the error does not have all the information as other receipts. Is there a data export file I need to export so the invoices are imported?  Would that fix the problem?
