Sage 50 not working with Outlook 64 bit

Suggested

Hello, recently we have not been able to email out from our Sage 50 program. I've spoken with Sage's IT helpdesk 3 times with no resolution. The last representative said that Sage 50 does not work with Outlook 64 bit version, just the 32 bit version. Has anyone else had the same issue? Seems ridiculous that Sage would not work with Outlook's latest version. Thanks for your time.

Sage 50 is a 32 bit program.  It does not work with outlook 64 bit.

We use google and it works great.

    Kind regards,

Microsoft Office is available in two versions: 64-bit and 32-bit. By default, Office installs the 64-bit version. However, users can opt for the 32-bit version by following Microsoft's official installation instructions, available at this link:
Download, install, or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024

Sage 50 operates exclusively as a 32-bit application. To ensure compatibility, any third-party software integrating with Sage 50 must also be 32-bit.

For business communications, using a free Google Gmail account may pose security and reliability concerns. It’s important to review Google's terms of service and data policies carefully. A paid email platform is highly recommended to safeguard your organization’s communications and data integrity.

Basic Gmail services are free for a reason—limitations in privacy, support, and enterprise-grade features are part of the tradeoff. If you're planning to use Gmail for business purposes, investing in a paid account is strongly recommended to ensure greater security, reliability, and control over your communications.

If you're already familiar with Microsoft Outlook, it remains a strong choice. To use Outlook alongside Sage 50, uninstall the default 64-bit Office installation and reinstall the 32-bit version using the link provided above.

    Hope this helps.

First, Sage owes it's subscribers a product that does not require them to downgrade other critical applications. There is a reason that 64 bit applications exist.

Second, I don;t use Outlook, I use Thunderbird, and I've tried both 32 & 64bit versions, and neither have worked for over a year. I can "send to email" from files and other applications, but not from Sage. Not even Sage tech support has been able to figure it out. Of course they try to point at Thunderbird, but I've done a complete reinstall of both applications and it still doesn't work.

I had to give up and resort to a webmail server and BCC myself to keep a record. It is very frustrating to spend so much money every year when features don't work.

I use the 64-bit Version of Outlook with Sage 50 quite successfully. While the System Requirements may say that it doesn't work with the 64-bit Version, I can tell you that this is not the case for everyone. While there may be some changes that need to be made to permissions and Outlook settings, we would be happy to troubleshoot this with you and see if we can get you working with it and Sage 50. Please reach out to us if interested.
