Setting up new Service Only company

We are an accounting office and have no inventory items.  We are setting up our new account on Sage 50 and it wants to make an inventory list - how do I change it to services only- we do not have any inventory items that have cost of sales or parts.

    Hi Cindy,

    Creating inventory items is not a requirement for your company, but if you would like to set the default item type to service this can be set in the inventory item defaults (Maintain, Default Information, Inventory Items).

    I have that setting already established and thank you for your quick response, I really appreciate your help.  However, as you can see from my picture, it still looks like I am trying to set up an inventory item, and I don't need my service item effecting 3 different G/L accounts.  It's a bookkeeping service that only needs to go to income.  There is no expense required for this service.  So, am I still doing something wrong?

    Hi Cindy,

    No your not doing anything incorrectly, service items are normally associated with the wages/salaries you pay an employee to perform them and a cost of sales account (cost of the service to the business).  It's not possible however to save a service type item without selecting something for these fields.
